Grace Scott was born November 24, 1922. Her family was at the time, living in a two room house in Blairtown, Wyoming. At that time, there were five children living with her parents in that two room home, Rue, Earl, Net, Virgil, and Grace.
The family moved to Salt Lake City for several years, then returned to Rock Springs, where Grace attended the Rock Springs High School. (Net remained in Salt Lake, as she had married Peter Tonge by then)
When about 16 years of age, Grace worked at Camp Hiawatha, south of Rock Springs, as a cook or cooks helper. She also at one time, had the occasion to be employed at a turkey farm in Farson Wyoming, where she assisted a new mother with baby and household chores.

During WWII, Grace went to Salt Lake City to work for Remington Arms. There, she packed 50 calibur bullets into tins. Once the bullets were packed, and the lids put on, these tins needed sealed. Grace soldered the lids on the cans of these shells!! When I asked, "Couldn't that be dangerous?" her answer was a simple, "well, if you did it wrong it was"

She worked for an amusement center in Salt Lake, where she photographed people and developed the pictures. The type of photos that later became very popular in "3 for $1" booths. The above picture was taken by her boss there.

Grace was always very close to her brother, Virgil. It was only natural to see them running around together when they were younger. One of Virgil's friends was Bud Schurman. Grace and Bud married May 16, 1945 at a church in Green River Wyoming. (Virgil married a close friend of sister Net, Esmee Pace)

Bud Schurman passed away in 1961, and Grace took on the responsibility of raising their 5 children alone, and running the family business, the Capital Bar.

Grace met and married Skinny (George Clinton) Field, December 21, 1964.
